Lucy A. Garcia, B.S., M.S., Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist, has owned and operated her myofascial pain management clinic, Trigger Point Therapy ABQ, in Albuquerque, New Mexico for over two decades.
Lucy received her training at the "famous" Academy for Myotherapy and Physical Fitness in Lenox, Massachusetts, having completed some 800 hours of academic and manual trigger point therapy instruction. The Academy was one of the first--and the finest--formal educational institutions in the United States to offer extensive training in manual therapy for trigger point pain based on the “Travell Trigger Point Injection” protocol.
Janet Travell, M.D. is widely recognized as the leading pioneer in the research and practice of myofascial trigger point injection therapy. She became a well-known public figure while serving as White House Physician to President John F. Kennedy, during which she utilized her groundbreaking techniques to relieve chronic pain resulting from injuries sustained by the President in World War II. Dr.Travell’s research and use of trigger point injection protocols resulted in the publication of over 100 scientific articles, as well as the textbook (co-authored with Dr. David G. Simons), Myofascial Pain and Dysfunction. The Trigger Point Manual--generally regarded to be the most respected work in the profession.
Licensed by the State of New Mexico since 1992, Lucy regularly attends continuing education courses and has acquired post-graduate education and training in her field. She specializes in hands-on treatment of myofascial pain and dysfunction.
